Kochi, June 10, 2025 — Turning their passion for football into a force for nature, the Kerala Blasters Army—the official supporters’ group of Kerala Blasters FC—has concluded a unique week-long eco-initiative, ‘A Tree for a Goal,’ held from June 1 to 7 across all districts of Kerala.

Inspired by the idea: “One Goal. One Tree.”, the campaign marked 52 goals scored by Kerala Blasters FC across the 2024–25 season—covering the Durand Cup, Indian Super League (ISL), and Super Cup—with the planting of 52 tree saplings. Each tree represented not just a score on the pitch, but a step toward a greener future.

🌳 From Goals to Greenery: Football Fans Go Beyond the Field

The campaign went far beyond symbolic gestures. Fans, dressed in iconic yellow, gathered across Kerala—from bustling cities to remote towns—to plant saplings and show that football fandom can echo in forests, not just in stadiums.

“Our love for the Blasters doesn’t end with the final whistle,” said a Kerala Blasters Army representative. “These saplings are the physical embodiment of every cheer, every chant, and every goal we celebrated.”

🌱 Support from Leaders and Legends

The campaign saw enthusiastic participation from dignitaries and football legends. Kerala’s Agriculture Minister Sri. P. Prasad joined hands with fans to raise awareness about ecological responsibility. Also present was T.G. Purushothaman, Kerala Blasters’ assistant coach and a former Santosh Trophy winner, who contributed to the planting drive, blending football glory with green commitment.

This well-coordinated effort was driven by the Kerala Blasters Army’s state committee leaders—Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad—whose groundwork turned the idea into impactful action.

💛 The Blasters Army: Loud in the Stands, Loud in Service

Founded in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has long stood as more than just a fan club. Famed for electrifying the West Gallery of Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the Army is equally known for its service-driven ethos—having organized blood donation drives, football tournaments, disaster relief, and community events over the years.

With “A Tree for a Goal,” they’ve now laid the foundation for a new annual tradition that combines sport and sustainability.

“This is about creating something lasting,” said campaign coordinator Abhijith K.S. “We want our cheers to have an afterlife—rooted in soil, blooming into a legacy.”

🌍 Future Goals, Future Forests

The Kerala Blasters Army is already eyeing expansion for future seasons—envisioning a broader movement that includes school students, local clubs, environmental groups, and fellow football fans. Their dream? A literal forest of goals—a growing tribute to Kerala Blasters FC and environmental awareness.
